It’s Me, Hi…
Hello there…
How you doing? It’s a Sunny day here in Stebbing and the garden has practically exploded. I love it when this happens, one minute it’s on the cusp, thinking about it, then BOOM!, like the cork off a bottle of fizz, she explodes into wonder. Unfortunately my ‘smellevision’ isn’t working so well as I currently have covid. A great excuse to work outside though and get some fresh air before The Wildlings head back from school. So I thought I’d say ‘Hi’ and introduce myself properly.
So, hi again, I’m Kulli and I’m the founder of Bloom ‘N Good. A fabulous, kitchen table business that resides in my home in wonderful Stebbing. I respectfully create personalised plant medicine essences that supports anyone who needs a helping hand when life’s waves may make us feel we’re off balance.
I’ve also created a set of remedies that can be chosen by how you want to feel. ‘Presence’, ‘Shine Bright’, ‘Move On Up’, ‘Duvet Day’ and a favourite of mine ‘M.Y.B.’ are just a few of the combination remedies I offer. The outcome is often seen as shifting fixed mindsets which can stop people feeling their best selves, in a completely safe and gentle way. 7 drops taken twice a day, directly or with water is all it takes to start your therapeutic healing journey.
When did you start the company?
I launched Bloom ‘N Good this year 2023, but had the idea the previous years. After my own experience taking flower remedies as a means of emotional support at a time when I really felt a ‘a bit stuck’…well, actually, I felt bloody awful. Trapped, anxious, disassociated, I was surviving, rather than thriving daily. Long-story-short, it had such a powerful, yet gentle impact on my daily life that this led to me to then undertake a workshop dedicated to such remedies. Then followed a counselling skills qualification, pranayama / breathwork workshops & a Vibrational and Flower Essences Practitioner course followed shortly after. There are many, many other strings to my harp, yes harp, not bow, that mainly life & the universe has allowed me to experience & come out of the other side.
Me: ‘Hey! Where’s my certificate for that?’
Universe: ‘Erm… You’re Welcome!’
Me: Rude! Lols.
What did you used to do before this?
Pre motherhood, my main working experience had been in the creative field within the broadcasting industry. A time when I had no dependents apart from a cat and an income to do with what I wished. It was an incredible time of learning. A time to experience ‘sink or swim’ in blissful ignorance to what the future held before me.
Cut to now, after having three fantastic wildlings whilst running my own businesses, this playful nature has kind of been the way in which I’ve rolled in life ever since. Thankfully, now there’s more support from my immediate family, friends & not forgetting the bloom essences - which help keep things on an even keel. I LOVE it!
What inspired you/what experience did you have?
Like I touched upon, I was inspired to create my business from not only my own experience using plant medicine, but also because I found that there was a gap in the market, certainly in the U.K. where it could be made available to ‘everyone’. No matter what your demographic or geography. It’s so gentle and powerful, I really believe that it’s a skill that many could pass on through generations and use to help themselves too. The simple art of quietly acknowledging what is living around us, is a great way to tap into that abundant resource of ‘presence’ that we all have.
I often make the remedies from my own back yard, (or other peoples, with permission of course ha ha) here in Stebbing, or from my home in Cornwall. It all depends on where I am and the season that we are in really. As this will dictate what’s available. Unashamedly I am no Monty Don, but I still love gardening and attempt to grow vegetables every year. This year it’s a cut flower garden! It’s always been a place of discovery, peace and joy. Now, who wouldn’t want a piece of that aye?!
My goal is to create a more grounded approach to plant medicine, normalising the use of it and dismissing the often negative ‘woo-woo’ factor.
It’s something that’s been used for thousands of years in many other countries and cultures to a positive effect, so it’s certainly not a ‘next new thing’. It is something that’s been pushed to the background, so I’m hoping to bring it back to the foreground in a more accessible, yet grounded approach, with a bit of personality too.
What are your ambitions for the company?
Watch this space as there’s so much I’d like to do. Co-host retreats where people make their own remedies, add new items to the website, free meditations, charity donations, the list goes on. Having a family means I go at my own pace - which is currently ‘slowmo’, so a great excuse to practice patience I’ve found! On a personal level, l would love to keep learning and be open to further education, opportunities & collaborations that this journey may bring.
Do you work from home?
My business is literally a kitchen table business. Which works great for my busy household. I’m able to receive orders online, curate them, package and post them – even using the mobile Post Office when I can, which is so handy!… and so cute.
Does it have an impact on family life?
Managing a busy household and running businesses is a job and a half…. I’d say three and a half actually! But it all seems to come together eventually and everyone helps out. At times when it doesn’t, that’s also fine. I’m human, not a robot - simples.
My house is usually loud and a kitchen disco after school is a great way for us all to come together and shake off a day’s hard work. I’m often found around the village chatting or laughing about #mumlife or asking ‘What day is it again?’.
Having a business that’s primarily connected to nature means that the wildlings are more exposed with what’s going on outside and away from their screens. All my children have been using plant medicines from when they were born, so are very used to the idea of using a dropper bottle. They’re very much used to me lingering around in the garden so often come and join in. Or if they’re feeling under the weather, they’ll ask for some essential oil mix to help before reaching for the Calpol.
How do you find your experience of running a business so far?
They say it takes a village… and whoever ‘they’ are. They are right.
From my village in Cornwall, to my village in Stebbing, having a support system that includes all my wonderful family (My stunning, talented niece @lizg_dsgn sorts out the creative elements and website) plus meeting other small business owners, especially female entrepreneurs has been so enriching and inspiring. The world is full of us! ha ha. And you do not to have to live in a village to experience it. You create your village by surrounding yourself with your kinda people.
I SO look forward to sharing the rest of the journey with you… buckle up buttercup!
Big Love,
Kulli
